There's no question that the majority of home buyers today are Millennials. Here are four key factors they're looking for and how you can implement them in your FOR SALE home.
The most important idea to keep in mind when marketing to Millennials is that they are savvy. They do their research before house shopping and they're looking at four key factors when choosing their new home.
1. Easy online shopping.
2. Quality over size.
Square footage matters but Millennials are more interested in how usable each space is. So clear out your personal items and clutter so that they can visualize their belongings in your home. Let them see that a spare room can be used as a work-from-home office space. Show them that the master bedroom is a clean, fresh space of refuge after a hard day at work or caring for young children. Unless the room's intended use is obvious, it can be helpful to show buyers how they can use the space.
3. Unique.
Millennials want their homes to be personalized to their styles and tastes and to really represent who they are. Because Millennials are tuned in to HGTV, stores like Pottery Barn and Target, and websites like Pinterest and Houzz, they not only understand good design, but they've come to expect it. While they like the look of the latest Instagram post they just saw, they're savvy enough to save money by shopping the look at Target or Walmart rather than a luxury furniture store. To give your home a personalized look, bring in affordable modern accent pieces. Make home updates like swapping beige walls for bright white or plush carpets with natural fibers. Throw in pops of color to pull spaces together and show Millennials that your home can be a unique representation of their style.
4. Low-maintenance.
